Please don't get me wrong, it was completely, absolutely and totally wonderful. A whirlwind of crazy-beautiful and sometimes sad things, but I can honestly say that when it comes right down to it, I wouldn't change a thing (except for maybe a couple numbers on my last lottery ticket).
Without further ado, allow me to introduce you to some of the highlights:
Hayley and I had an awesome summer just hanging out, rocking out to the Beibs, talking about boys, and planning the things we were going to do when we grow up. Also, we both love the Utes.
(showing here:)
Mason and I went to the State Fair. Anytime I get to eat a Boston Creme Funnel-cake and take pictures of the many varieties of mullets that occupy SLC, I am ALL about it.
End of August, we had a few house guests join us for a "short term" stay...can I just show you how freaking cute they are? Ginger and her three puppies came to stay with us until they find their permanent homes. Two of them have been adopted out already (namely Millie & Duke) so just mama Ginger and baby girl "Honey" are still looking. It's definitely not easy having that many dogs at our house, but coming home from a long day and having all these little puppies swarm you and attack you with kisses just makes it kinda ok.

Strut Your Mutt also came around again for it's annual shenanigans. This year the Cause for Paws Utah dog pack was huge. We were overwhelmed by the support of our fosters, friends, supporters, and even complete strangers! We raised money, got our foster dogs some good exposure, and enjoyed a day outdoors.
During our "Fair Date" I almost blew the surprise that Penny (Mason's mom) would be visiting from Virginia. Thankfully I did not spill the beans to him or anyone else. When Penny came I went to pick her up from the airport and drove her to Grandma's house, who I had invited to go to lunch as a late birthday-present. I went inside to visit with Grandma and distract her from who was coming in the door 2 minutes behind me. SURPRISE! Grandma cried, Penny cried, (which made me cry) then we all went out to lunch and had the best afternoon.
The day after Penny got in town was my cousin Rocky's wedding. Gail and I had been planning this wedding for six months, so it was really nice to see it all come into fruition. Turned out amazing.
The day after the wedding was the 3rd Annual CFPU Howl-o-ween fundraiser. This was also something that we had been working on for six months, putting together the silent auction (my portion of the event), food, entertainment, venue prep, decorations...you name it. The event was amazing. we made a lot of money for the rescue, and most importantly I think everyone had a lot of fun. Take a peek at the amazing Howl-o-ween committee.
The same weekend of Penny's visit, the wedding and the fundraiser, the Rawlins' family also came to visit SLC. How I got so lucky I will never know. Because this was the most crazy, hectic and mind bending weekend ever I didn't get to see them as much as I wanted to before they all left back to Colorado and Idaho (and I have no pictures to prove we played), I did have an amazing time and am anxiously looking forward to our next visit.
Also that same weekend, Christine moved to California. I am not going to lie and say that I wasn't a little glad that she left while I had other things going on so that I was distracted and not as bummed out about it as I would have been otherwise. We worked to separate all of our "Great-ing" stuff, had a few dinner date nights before everything started going down, and sent her and the rest of the Tanner clan on their way to start their new adventure on the sunny, beachy goodness of San Diego.
Gail's birthday was this week. To celebrate, her and I got all dressed up in our fancies and went to the Little America for dinner. She loved it (as did I) and we had some really yummy food.
Not to start a political debate, but do you have any idea how hard it was for me to get my hands on one of these babies?! There are plenty of red cups at every 7-11, but never any of THESE kind. Anyway, this particular cup of coffee was exceptionally delicious. Oh, and I can't wait for November 7th when I don't have to read eleventy-hundred political posts on Facebook every five seconds.
I got to re-live my High School years this summer as well. Most of my favorite bands from High School went on a reunion or 10-year-anniversary-of-some-sort-of-album tour. It was amazing that not only did I get to go see them, but I got to see them in their original glory. I showed up singing my heart out to the best-of-the-best of their music, and pretending I was 16 again.
Add to all of this the RSL games, BBQs, Birthday parties, baby showers, weddings, visiting families, work, and play that we normally have to squeeze in anyway, and *phew*. Just typing about it is making me exhausted. I could really go for a power nap...and believe me, I took my fair share of them.
Life is good.
